Full course description

This course is designed to prepare students from various backgrounds with the foundational skills and knowledge to be a health and wellness coach. The curriculum involves theory and practice in behavior change, coaching psychology, motivational interviewing, and coaching techniques. Students will be required to complete 16 weeks of academic work that will include participating in weekly Zoom classes 2 days per week, completing online asynchronous work, and 50 practice sessions with clients. The course is accredited by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) and students who pass the program will be able to apply for the NBHWC exam. 

After completing this program, learners will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of fundamental components of health and wellness and effectively utilize coaching techniques to understand clients' needs and concerns. Learners will also be able to apply behavior change theories as well as conduct wellness assessments with clients to identify areas of improvement and collaboratively set achieveable health goals. The ethical standards of the Health Coaching profession will be understood with the completion of this program.

Approximate Time Commitment: 120 hours 

Curriculum Delivery: Learners will engage in online asynchronous work including weekly Zoom sessions, as well as 50 practice sessions with clients. 

 Cohort will meet on Tuesdays from 5-6:30 p.m. and Thursdays 5-7:00 p.m. via Zoom.
